TGIM: The Countdown Is On (75 Simple)

Welcome back to Thank God It’s Monday!

tl;dr 81 days until 2027. If you want to go into the holiday season with a plan for feeling energized and confident instead of bloated and sluggish, I’ve created the 75 Simple Challenge starting Sunday, October 18th. This is for you if you want an easy 10 minutes per day to build that momentum and confidence going into the new year.

Who: 75 Simple is for you if you are busy, already stressing about the holiday eating and drinking, and are barely hanging on to that ideal workout plan you hoped to abide by. This challenge is designed with my exhausted healthcare professionals in mind, working swing shifts and just trying to get by.

If most holiday seasons you find yourself wishing for them to be over because you can’t possibly be stuffed any longer, this is for you.

If you do well with clear-cut instructions and realistic goals, then this is for you.

If you are ready to create the momentum going into the new year and make 2027 the year that is finally different, this is for you.

And this challenge is for me too. We’re all in this together, keeping our word to ourselves, and figuring out how to make the plan work despite what life may throw at us.

What: We’re committing to 3 simple tasks (hence 75 Simple):

  • 2L of water per day (or approx 8 cups of water)
  • 3 gratitudes every morning
  • 10 minutes of movement

That’s it. Three simple actions, done every day, for the last 75 days of the year. While it won’t turn you into a Victoria's Secret model or Wolverine, it will help us build our integrity by keeping our word to ourselves through simple action and confidence.

When: We begin on October 18th, officially 75 days until the New Year. Long enough to dig deep on some of these habits; quick enough to use motivation going into the new year.

Where: The great thing is that you can do this anywhere, in almost any environment. You just have to make the decision to commit.

Why: Because an even better version of ourselves lies on the other side of hard work and keeping a promise to ourselves. Sidelining goals during the holiday season inevitably leads to overshooting with New Year's resolutions, and impending letdown from trying to create momentum out of a dead stop. Let's work on continuing to place one foot in front of another.

I can’t possibly squeeze another ounce of effort out of myself after 16 hours of work today. But if this sounds like a plan you can get on board with, reply with “75 Simple” and I’ll get you more details!

If you found some value in this, please share it with a friend you think would enjoy it! And let me know if you’d like to be added to get TGIM.

This week, my podcast recommendation is from Mark Manson’s Solved, “How to Get Lucky.”

With that, I hope you find luck in your week ahead.

Until next time,
Shannon

Welcome back to Thank God It’s Monday! tl;dr Everyone loves picking a costume, dressing up, embodying a new character, and pretending to be someone else for the day. We can use the same mentality to develop new habits aligned with the person we want to become, and not just for going out trick-or-treating.Consider what your absolute favorite halloween costume was. Maybe it was a mythical fairy princess or the secretive ninja. You put on the new uniform, wig, and makeup and transformed not only...

Welcome back to Thank God It’s Monday! tl;dr Everything we do in life comes back to our power to persuade: getting ourselves to do what we say we’re going to do, encouraging a client for better results, convincing a partner that we’re right, making a sale, asking our bosses for a raise. Persuasion, persuasion, persuasion. So why are we more effective in some areas of persuasion than others? And how can we use the areas we are already getting results in to get better results in the areas we...

Welcome back to Thank God It’s Monday! tl;dr We all have hope for what we want our futures to look like. We secretly wish our future selves could do something our present selves can't. But to become that future version of ourselves who can do more, we have to build confidence and character in incremental steps, since change so rarely happens in one fell swoop. We’ve all heard the quote:"Watch your thoughts, they become your words; watch your words, they become your actions; watch your...
